Project Creation Wizard

Client: iBEAM Systems, Inc.

The team at iBEAM realized that they were spending an inordinate amount of time creating entries in their database by hand, and needed a better solution. Rather than rearchitecting their back-end, this browser-based UI allowed them to easily create new records in their existing format. This step-by-step wizard also prevented many issues with typos and invalid data by validating entries and providing feedback on what needed changing. Once all the data was entered, it was submitted to a REST API and created in the system.

The bulk of the wizard's functionality was in creating new projects, and started the admin off by requesting basic info.

iBEAM specializes in high-def cameras for construction site monitoring and archiving, so the most important interface was entering the camera configurations for a given project. You could create as many cameras as you want (using the plus button at the bottom), and each type of camera had its own set of fields.

Next the admin could enter information about the users who could access the cameras for the project. Multiple users could easily be added or removed from this screen. The admin could also easily bulk import CSV data from their CRM.

Project owners could optionally receive physical backups of their images, so here the admin could record where the backups should be sent.

Once all the information was entered, the wizard displayed a confirmation summary for viewing before submitting the data to the back-end.
